Explore your dreams through a broad range of Jewish texts, and modern psychoanalytic theory. Join us for this course with clinical psychologist and rabbi Mordechai Zeller, as we delve into ancient dream texts from the Tanach (Hebrew Bible), Talmud, Zohar and from the diaries of the Mystics and Hassidic masters. We will read these works together with some classic psychological theory, from Freud and Jung to Bion, Ogden and Eigen. Each session focuses on archetypal and recurring dream themes, we will follow them through early mentions in Jewish sources. We will learn how to begin writing/recording our dreams and how to begin working with them. Session 1: Up - Dreams of ladders Session 2: The Naked Dream - Undressing a dream in disguise Session 3: Fantastic Beasts and how to dream them Session 4: Dreams of flying & falling Session 5: Soulmate dreams Session 6: From the Belly of the Whale: Dreams of Death & Rebirth Each session includes both a text based learning session, followed by an active dream-circle, sharing personal dreams and doing dreamwork as a group. This course is for dreamers, seekers, therapists, teachers, artists, and all those tired enough of waking life to begin dreaming again… All texts are provided with clear line-by-line translations, and no prior knowledge or experience with the subject matter is necessary. This course is open to novices and advanced learners of all backgrounds and orientations. How does it work? The course consists of six recorded sessions, of approximately 1.25 hours each. Participants are invited to enjoy the recordings at your own convenience. Each session includes studying primary texts, reflection and discussion, followed by an active dream-circle, in which the course participants share dreams and engage in dreamwork as a group.
